Thank You, Transcribe Zinn Pilot Team!

The inaugural Transcribe Zinn team. L-R: Lauren Cooper, Mary Meehan, Sheryl Johns, Pat Corekin, Becky Luening, and David Schaff.
In spring 2021, we piloted the Transcribe Zinn project with four volunteers and two staff. This team cleaned up rough transcriptions, reviewed, and provided feedback to shape the next phase. These transcriptions allow researchers, historians, and students to search through Howard Zinn’s audiovisual materials and make the materials more findable in searches.

The transcription team members included Sheryl Jones (California), Becky Luening (Oregon), David Schaff (Alaska), Mary Meehan (Massachusetts) and Pat Corekin (Washington, D.C.), coordinated by Lauren Cooper (Pennsylvania), the HowardZinn.org Digital Curator. We appreciate their efforts to bring these materials to a wider audience.

Browse our From the Archives section to listen, watch, or read these materials.

Interested in helping to transcribe materials? Sign up for the second transcribing session beginning in September and running through November. We use Otter.ai, an all-in-one software that allows you to listen and type in the same window. Training and troubleshooting provided.
