Media Burn will host filmmakers Deb Ellis and Denis Mueller on Nov. 10 at 4pm PST / 6pm CST / 7pm EST as part of their Virtual Talks with Video Activists series discussing their biopic, “Howard Zinn: You Can’t Be Neutral on a Moving Train.” The event is free.
The Midwestern Archivist
Granted rights to HowardZinn.org to publish “Secrecy, Archives, and the Public Interest,” Zinn’s influential article urging archivists to: “One, engage in a campaign to open all government documents to the public. . . . And two, that they take the trouble to compile a whole new world of documentary material, about the lives, desires, needs, of ordinary people.”
The New Press
On Aug. 24, released a paperback edition of Truth Has a Power of Its Own with a new cover. From the Foreword by Ray Suarez: “In the nearly forty years since the first edition of A People’s History appeared, Zinn’s critics have tried to sandbag him. Some complain that his iconoclasm, his tearing down of long-revered heroes, and his corrections to the record leave only a dreary slog through centuries of oppression, struggle, and suffering. Well, a historian’s job is to find out what actually happened. The horrors are there all right, and Zinn is clear-eyed and persistent in forcing us to look at them.”

The New York Public Library hosted the online event “This Month a Century Ago: Howard Zinn Born” on Wednesday, August 17 featuring professors Robert Cohen and Sonia Murrow to discuss Zinn’s legacy.
NYU Tamiment Library
Newly digitized 293 audio and video recordings of Howard Zinn’s work to ensure long-term preservation and access to researchers around the world. Will be publicly available pending captioning for optimal accessibility.
